wednesday’s flowers – white ornithogalum

December 28, 2011

Sorry it has been a little quiet around here, I have been taking a few days to relax and unwind from a fabulous Christmas with my family. How was your holiday?

For today’s Wednesday’s Flowers post I’m keeping it simple and white with a pretty Ornithogalum plant, Ornithogalum dubium, also known as Sun Star.

I transplanted this little gem into a square, white ceramic planter and then I topped it with moss. I also added a moss ball for some detail at the base of the container.

Ornithogalum dubium plants are a perennial bulb native to South Africa. The cylindrical blooms bear flowers in colours of orange, red, yellow and white.

They can be purchased at most garden centres and occasionally can be found in local grocery stores.
