Wednesday’s Flowers – Welcome Fall

September 28, 2011

Well fall is finally here and I’m finally ready for it.  Ready for the sunny days and cool nights, the crisp fresh air, raking leaves and cosy sweaters and scarves.  But my favourite part of fall is the gorgeous shades of yellow, orange, green and red that grace Ontario’s landscape.  I just adore the beautiful blends of colours this time of year offers.

So for this week’s flower I had to focus on the new season and I found the perfect mixed bouquet at a local grocery store on sale!  The bouquet was regular $15 and was 50% off.  I happily grabbed the nice bouquet available and swiftly headed to the cash register.

Yay!  I scored a great deal, plus today was the perfect fall day to create some floral art outdoors!

The following flowers were used in the piece:

  • Yellow Spider Mums
  • Green ‘Kermit’ Mums
  • Orange Chrysanthemums
  • White Carnations
  • Coral Alstroemeria
  • Fish Tail Palm Leaves – Caryota mitis
  • Peony Leaves – cut from the garden
  • Curly Willow Branches – cut from the garden

Here is what I started with to create the arrangement:
