Wednesday’s Flowers – Shades of Purple

May 11, 2011

Purple, it is a hot colour right now.  I’m seeing it everywhere, especially in the shades of lavender and lilac, but when it comes to flowers all the shades look amazing together!  Light or dark you cannot go wrong.

The flowers for this week are from my purple loving friend Deb of Purplefreesia Designs. Here is a list of the flowers I used in the bouquet:

  • Calla Lilies
  • Carnations – 2 Varieties
  • Ranunculus
  • Larkspur
  • Lisanthus
  • Freesia
  • Statice – 2 Varieties

I created a hand-tied bouquet with the above flowers and displayed them in a clear mason jar.  I have to say this is one of my favourite bouquets this year.  I love how well the all purple flowers worked together, the mixture of shapes and sizes of the flowers gave interest and depth to the piece.

It is such a pleasure to have a purple arrangement in the house as it not a colour I’m always drawn to.  So please sit back and enjoy a bit of purple on this lovely Wednesday!

Are you noticing all the purple that is out there right now?  I love all the shades of lilac and lavender in fashion, home decor and flowers right now!  Mix it with navy or lime green and it look amazing!

Purple is such a joyful colour in the lighter shades; making it perfect for spring, especially after a very cold and dark winter.  Bring on the colour!
