Wednesday’s Flowers – Kabuki Garden Roses

April 13, 2011

This week it is all about the flower, not the design or arrangement.  Sometimes you just have to show off the natural beauty of a flower and not how it looks all dolled up.  Some flowers just need to be enjoyed for what they are, especially the one I just found.

You know that feeling when you see something so beautiful that your heart skips a beat? So pretty that you just have to enjoy it, perhaps even covet it?  Well, that happened to me the other day when my eyes and attention were blinded by a rose.  I love flowers, all flowers but very few leave me with that feeling, especially roses.  I was left a little surprised by my reaction but it is nice to know that passion is still alive.

The rose that has run away with my heart is ‘Kabuki’, a gorgeous pink spray garden rose.  I purchased 5 stems from a Toronto flower wholesaler I just started working with.  It retails for $3.50 to $4.00 per stem, a little pricey but each stem does have 3 blooms on it.  So will worth it in my books.

So with that being said, I’m just going to let these beauties do the rest of the speaking.

So what do you think?  Can you understand my new love?  Normally I do not get all gushy over roses but I think this summer will have a few more garden roses in it.  Especially since it would be a perfect flower for an August wedding I’m working on.  Fingers crossed I can get ‘Kabuki’ roses then.
