Wednesday’s Flowers – Garden Green

June 16, 2010

I must say I have a very lush and green garden right now.  This makes me very happy but where is all the colour gone??  I need colour in my life.  Needless to say there were some pretty slim pickings out there today.  I kept walking around hoping to find just a spot of colour, but there was none to be found and what was there was not enough to pick.

So I figured I would focus on the abundance of green for this week and hope for flowers next week.  I had to remind myself that green is a colour, a very pretty one too!

Believe it or not a bouquet full of green can be quite interesting, the key is texture!  Use plant foliage that has different textures and colours and if you can find a green or almost green flower add that too.

Here is what I used to create this weeks bouquet:

Helleborus niger – Christmas Rose

Matteuccia struthiopteris – Ostrich Fern

Lunaria annua – Silver Dollars or Money Plant

Astrantia major – Great Masterwort

Baptisia australis – Blue Wild Indigo

So even if you have very little colour and flowers in your garden you can still get some enjoyment from it.  Try collecting some greens from you garden and display them inside, I think you will be pleasantly surprised.
