Sunday, May 19th was the date of our first ever Succulent Terrarium Workshop! It was a sold out event. We have taught 3 closed Terrarium Workshops this term, but this was the first time we showed students the ins and outs of making an open system using desert succulent plants.
Terrariums are not hard to make, one just needs to understand how they work and the best plants to use in the different types of glass containers. Once the students understood how to make them, the hardest part was selecting the plants they were going to use in their glass vessels.
All the students were given a glass globe vase with holes in the sides to design in – the vases were all the same, yet each of the students finished pieces were different.
Deb shared some fabulous pointers on the care, maintenance and creation of open succulent terrariums.
Our next workshop at the Flower School is on Sunday, June 2, 2013 from 1:00pm to 2:30pm. We will be making Hanging Terrariums! In this workshop each student will make 3 hanging terrarium using an assortment of succulents and air plants.
Hope to see you in class!
