flowers for a purple and charcoal wedding

August 13, 2012

Today we are sharing with you a simple yet elegant wedding we created for Elizabeth-Ann and Drew Switzer on July 20, 2012 in Collingwood, Ontario. The ceremony and reception were both held at the lovely Cranberry Resort, the ceremony was outdoors on the bay and the reception was in the Bear Estate over looking the water.

When we met with Elizabeth-Ann back in October of 2011,  this girl knew exactly what she wanted. It was actually the quickest consultation ever! Purple and charcoal, calla lilies and dendrobium orchids with a few other details thrown in and we had all the flowers planned.

Believe to or not we only used 3 different flowers for the whole wedding and 2 types of foliage. Here is what we used to create their wedding:

  • Calla Lily ‘Picasso’
  • Calla Lily ‘Schwarzwälder’
  • Dendrobium ‘Pompadour’
  • Ming Fern
  • Salal
  • Bleached Salix Branches Spray Painted Charcoal

The most difficult part of the planning for this wedding was the logistics of getting 22 centrepieces and all the bouquets to Collingwood in one piece during scorching July weather. We managed and everything looked fabulous!

Congratulations to Elizabeth-Ann and Drew, we loved being a part of their special day and celebrating with them! We wish you both much happiest and lots of love!
