We were pretty excited when we heard that our beloved landlord, The Walper Hotel, circa 1893, would become a set this week for the filming of an episode of the Murdoch Mysteries. Filming took place both inside the hotel and out on Queen Street. This successful Canadian show has been running for 7 seasons so far, with season 8 currently in the works. We are not normally star struck, but as fans of the show, we were quite excited to try and capture a glimpse or two of some of the action. Our highlight of the day was most certainly when the location manager invited us up to the crystal ballroom to watch the filming. We got to see all of the cast and crew hard at work. We have a new respect for the amount of work that goes into television and film. The costumes and sets were wonderful! Unfortunately, cameras and cell phones were not permitted in the filming area, so we haven’t any photos of the interior activities.
Enjoy some of the pictures that we managed to capture from our little shop in the hotel, just two days ago as Queen Street was transformed into the early 1900’s. We couldn’t resist using an antique filter to make the photos look authentic!
