Wednesday’s Flowers – Fall Pavé

October 20, 2010

Today I wanted to focus on Pavé floral arrangements.  I have not yet created one for Wednesday’s Flowers and I truly enjoy them, so I figured it was about time I shared one with you.

Pavé is French for pavement and that is what is trying to be achieved when creating a Pavé floral arrangement.  The style it meant to look like a low continuous flow of elements, clustered together in a well organized manner; low and flowing.  Traditionally Pavé has all the flowers cut to the same height, so a very flat arrangement is created, but I like to create them with a bit of height differentiation.  I find this gives the finished design more interest and depth.  The other great thing about Pavé is they are very easy to create and develop into a work of art in no time.

To create a Pavé arrangement you need the following:

  • Oasis Flower Foam
  • A Low Bowl or Container – Must be able to hold the Oasis
  • Fresh Flowers – Cut the stems short
  • Scissors or Floral Knife
  • Floral Tape – To tape the Oasis to the container
  • Textured Elements – Dried pods, foliage, short branches and dried grasses

If you have never tried Pavé arrangement I strongly suggest you do, it is so easy and I know you will be pleased with the results.  I always am!

Enjoy!!
