Wednesday’s Flowers – Amsterdam Bloemenmarkt

August 3, 2011

Wednesday’s Flowers is my way of sharing flowers with you while inspiring you to bring fresh flowers into your everyday life. We all know flowers can become very expensive but they do not have to. Which is my other focus with this weekly post: Show you creative ways to make flower arrangements for under $10 or for free if the blooms are coming out of the garden.

Flowers enhance our lives and make us feel good about ourselves, this is why we use them to celebrate important dates and occasions. But we should really have them in our lives everyday or at least weekly; it is not hard to do and can be done for very little money.

Normally my goal with this series is to create an inspiring arrangement but this week I want to encourage you to go out and find local grown flowers or your local flower market to purchase your flowers from. If you cannot find one, start asking for one because every city needs a flower market.

My reasoning for this is that I am currently in Amsterdam, the flower Mecca of the world and there are flowers everywhere. The moment I walked out of the baggage claim area of the Airport there was a fabulous display of fresh flowers.

Today we visited the Bloemenmarkt in the heart of Amsterdam and I was blown away by the large array of bulbs and fresh flowers available. Walking among so many flowers really got the creative juices flowing. I wish I had my tools and vases at hand!

Since I could not play with flowers today I will share a glimpse of what I saw.

Happy Wednesday friends!
