Wednesday’s Flowers

February 18, 2010

Well, this week’s flowers are all about colour and spring, again.  There is currently an abundance of spring at the grocery and florist shops and I could not rest picking up some orange tulips.  My favourite thing about tulips is they look great in a loose bouquet in any vase or container, which makes them easy to handle.  I picked up a bunch of 10 stems for only $7.99, which I find is very reasonable for flowers that are going to last for a little over a week.  Do remember to buy them when the flowers are still tight and a bit green; that way you get to enjoy them longer, once they open they go pretty fast.

I wanted to keep it simple this week but show a little bit of versatility.  So to start off I kept the tulips on the long side and put them in a clear simple vase.

To try something else and hopefully inspire you, I decided to try them in a different vase and add some objects around them, since this is how I would style them in my home.  Since I recently picked up some black and white ceramic vases that I could not live without (I have a bad addiction to vases), I thought the black vase would be a wonderful contrast against the orange, plus I have been eager to use them.

If you haven’t yet, I highly recommend you run out and grab a bunch of tulips!  You won’t regret it!  I’m already looking forward to seeing you back here next week!

  • What beautiful tulips! I can hardly wait for spring.

  • These are gorgeous! I too just picked up some tulips the other day, white ones. I found my way over from the BYW facebook page and am so happy I stopped by!

  • What an inspiring post! Love the photos! I like the flowers in the black vase with objects in the background.
