IDS11 – Sibling Revelry: Part 2

January 31, 2011

The second room in the Sibling Revelry exhibit at the IDS11 in Toronto was created by brothers Glenn and David Dixon.  Glenn Dixon is an interior designer and host of the W Network’s “Take this House and Sell it”.  With his brother David Dixon, a fashion designer, they created David Dixon Inc., a Canadian clothing design firm with international recognition.

Their collaboration was modern with a touch of traditional styling and was full of fashion flare, just like the brothers.  The creative genius of the space was the plethora of origami cranes that graced the ceiling.  The presence of the birds created mood altering shadows throughout the space while adding texture and interest to a simple lattice ceiling.

The Dixon brothers did a fabulous job creating a space which reflects their individual personalities.  Very stylish, chic and sophisticated.

Stay tuned for part 3 of the series on Sibling Revelry, featuring the Brothers Dressler.

This room took my breath away! It was so soft and serene. As you so rightly stated, “The creative genius of the space was the plethora of origami cranes that graced the ceiling. The presence of the birds created mood altering shadows throughout the space while adding texture and interest to a simple lattice ceiling.”
It put me in mind of walking through a forest, looking towards the sky and sun through tree branches that are swaying back and forth, and the sunlight is flickering through and landing all around you. This room was good for the soul.
I found the Dixon brothers to be extremely friendly and approachable.
The entire show was absolutely wonderful. Bravo to all of the exhibitors.
