Flower Classes Are Starting Soon

August 11, 2011

Here are all the Living Fresh Flower School’s upcoming flower classes starting this fall at the Button Factory in Uptown Waterloo:

Colour Theory – Purple

Colour Theory – Purple

Whether it is amethyst, eggplant, or magenta, purple is a colour of greatness.  It is both fiery red and cool blue – a palette of contradiction.

In this class we will play with blooms of the purple persuasion, mingling the emotions that accompany this extraordinary hue.  We will create an arrangement that reflects the complexities of purple.

Play with Autumn Pavé

Play with Autumn Pavé

As the growing season comes to an end and the autumn air starts to dominate, forest floors become littered with rich botanicals.  Colourful foliage, cones, berries, fungi, nuts, branches, bark, and moss – just a handful of the treasures you may find if you walk with your head down through the woods.  The Pavé style of floral art is dense with botanicals:  The perfect look for combining nature and fresh flowers.

Come experiment with the clean and tailored elegance of the Pavé style – design a lush tabletop arrangement for the harvest season.

Marie Antoinette

Marie Antoinette

We will not be fashioning floral arrangements around the sky-high hair pieces adorned by Marie Antoinette.  Nor will we be using a guillotine to cut our botanicals.  Seductive posies to reflect the queen’s promiscuity are not the look we are going for either…

Pretty and poised, feminine and fair, lacey and lavish, delicate and diverse, aromatic and alive – now that’s more like it!

Please join us at this 18th century period class to bring out your inner “Dauphine”.

Date:  Sun, Oct 16, 2011
Time:  1:00 pm – 4:00 pm

Moulin Rouge

Moulin Rouge

In 1889 this highly controversial, brothel-like club opened its doors in the red light district of Paris.  Although its shows have become more modest in content, appealing to tourists from all over the world, it still remains alluring and sexy.

The signature red and black décor, the sparkle, the feathers and the lace are synonymous with this high class cancan club.  Break out your inner va-va-voom and come create a floral arrangement fit for the Moulin Rouge!
